Analysis: 5 ingredients??? This concept was insane to me. I felt there was no way the recipes could have any depth with only 5 ingredients. Boy, was I wrong. Not only are her recipes jam packed full of flavor, but they are restaurant quality dishes you can create in your home. I’ve followed recipes hundreds of times, but never have I made stuff I felt tasted like restaurant quality. These recipes are GREAT! Also, they are easy to manipulate and add to if you are feeling creative. She also provides great tips as well. A must read/buy!
Analysis: Sandra Lee’s Semi-Homemade: slow cooker recipes is awesome for the busy cook. It is also great for someone who does not have a lot of experience in the kitchen. I utilize this book a lot during the winter. I searched for a slow cooker (crock-pot) cookbook for a long time. She provides what size crockpot you should use for each recipe. I had an unfortunate mishap with a recipe that was too small for my crock-pot and it burnt. So, this was a huge plus for me. Crock-pots are easy for throwing in whatever you have to create a dish, but Sandra Lee offers some awesome suggestions. She even gives a nice intro on what size crock pot you might need and what you can do with them. Not only are the recipes nicely organized, but it really is a “set it and forget it” type of cookbook. I’ve made several recipes from this book and they have all been tasty.
